Prof. Dr. Sjamsul Arifin Achmad, Ph.D., a distinguished Organic Chemist from Indonesia, passed away today at 12:10. Born on April 11, 1934, in Padang, he was a Professor of Organic Chemistry at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). His groundbreaking research led to the discovery of numerous new chemical compounds from Indonesian plants, contributing significantly to the scientific community. Prof. Sjamsul’s remarkable career earned him many prestigious awards, including the Sarwono Prawirohardjo Award and the Habibie Award.
